Biography
Beomseok Nam is a professor at SungKyunKwan University (SKKU).
He obtained his undergraduate and M.S. degree in Computer Science from Seoul National University in 1997 and 1999, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Maryland, College Park under the supervision of Professor Alan Sussman in 2007.
After brief stints as a faculty research associate at the University of Maryland, College Park and UMIACS, he worked for Oracle at Redwood Shores, CA as a senior member of technical staff from 2007 to 2010. In 2010, he left sunny California as he was appointed to the Electrical and Computer Engineering at UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology) as an assistant professor, where he spent majority of his young career days. In 2018, he left UNIST and joined the college of computing at SKKU.
His research interest includes storage systems, big data processing systems, database systems, distributed and parallel computing, and high performance computing.
